What most people dont know is that domain names do have an expiration date. There are thousands of domains that expire each day. Sure not all of them may be the highly prized one you were looking for but you will never know until you look. There are resources out there that provide listings of expired, soon to be expired, and backordered names. Godaddy.com, snapnames.com, deleteddomains.com are just a few sites that offer these services. Now the importance here is the backordering of domain names. Since domain names do have expiration dates, you can backorder names so when they do expire, you could be in the running to get it.
Another useful tip is when you get an idea for a domain name register it as soon as possible. There are thousands of other people out there trying to get their domain name ideas registered and some of them just might have the same ones you want. Keep in mind that it is a competitive business to get a domain name.
Even though it can pay to be fast it can also pay to be patient. As mentioned before, thousands of domain names are expiring each day. Keep vigilant watch over different resources to see what names are expiring. The one you want may expire today, tomorrow, next month, or next year. You never know. Just remember to be watchful.
Finally, try not to be too selective when it comes to the domain name you want. Even if it is your own name you want, there can be a happy medium that you can reach if you cant get your full name. It might be as simple as just using the first initial of your first name as opposed to your full first name. The key is dont give up.
