Title:
The Outgoing Mail Server SMTP
Article:
SMTP is short for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. If you have ever worked with a third party email program such as Outlook or Outlook Express, you are more than likely familiar with SMTP. SMTP is the outgoing mail server protocol. Emails are sent and received thanks to SMTP, which is for sending email, and POP3, which is for receiving email. Both work together to make email work properly.
The way SMTP works is by doing two things. First, when email is designated to be sent SMTP will check to make sure that a valid email address is authorized to send the email. The second job is to makes sure it gets delivered and if it doesnt to send it back.
The majority of email servers will use SMTP to send messages from server to server. SMTP generally will be used to send messages from mail clients to mail servers. This is the reason both POP3 and SMTP servers are necessary for email. On servers with your domain, SMTP will be available as such: smtp.yourdomain.xyz.
